Great seats, and they really put on a great show – the pre-game show was spectacular, and the fans are definitely the best in Chicago. But sheesh, who loses a hockey game six to one, for Pete’s sake? Eh, whatever, we had a fun time. Here’s some pictures from the game.

I’ve bragged a lot (well, mostly on Facebook) about the McCracken Middle School band, on which my eldest son plays trombone. A band which the director of the Music Institute of Chicago calls “Extraordinary.” Now you can judge for yourself. Sit back and enjoy “Foundry”. Be prepared to be blown away.
It’s been a very busy month, and soccer season hasn’t even started yet. I had to get some pictures posted. Actually, I didn’t want to leave February without any posts. So here it is.
Monster Jam: You’ve heard the spiel before, we go get inundated with complex hydrocarbons. Except not really, monster trucks have been running on Alcohol for years, so we don’t come home smelling like racing fuel anymore. Aaron took pictures this year, enjoy!
Chicago Auto Show: Aaron talked me into taking him because he’s become quite the sports car affectionado lately. He took pictures of some sports cars. Aaron came downtown on the train, then we took the bus to McCormick Place and walked until we couldn’t walk anymore.
Up next month: Aaron takes a trip to Washington, D.C. and performs at some more band things.

There is actually a 2010 “year in review” post planned, with pictures and videos, but it’s taking a bit longer than I expected. Wait for it! It will be worth it! Meanwhile, have a happy new year!
Update: Sorry, no year in review. I got busy. But coming soon (this weekend): videos from Aaron’s MENC performance.
We’re doing the usual this New Years Eve: imported meats and cheese snacks all evening, then watching the fireworks on T.V. at midnight. Probably a few games and activities mixed in for good measure. I hope to take some pics or maybe even short videos, and I’ll post them here.

Sigh. The last “night” of Hanukkah. I am always a bit bittersweet about the last night – the nine candles (per Menorah – 27 total) blazing, always lights up the room and seems to make it a bit warmer. But then it’s over. Bear in mind, our holidays run from sundown to sundown, so Hanukkah officially ends tomorrow at sundown. But tonight is the last night of lights, of singing, and of course presents.
Twas just sort of a ho-hum, hum-drum evening at the Humphries-Dolnick household. I quizzed the kids about the real meaning of Hanukkah, and they did surprisingly well. Then we lit candles, and presents were distributed. Aaron got Marla a game for her DS, and the kids opened toys and games.
