{"id":294,"date":"2008-08-17T21:53:32","date_gmt":"2008-08-18T04:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/famille.org\/?p=294"},"modified":"2008-08-17T21:53:32","modified_gmt":"2008-08-18T04:53:32","slug":"day-1-2-branson-mo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/famille.org\/?p=294","title":{"rendered":"Day 1 &#038; 2 &#8211; Branson, MO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s about 11 PM on day two of our big summer vacation.&nbsp; Yesterday was just a drive day, we went about 530 miles from Chicago to Springfield MO in about 11 or 12 hours with plenty of stopovers.&nbsp; Now we&#8217;re watching the Olympics before we go to bed, ready to make the trek from here to Dallas in about seven hours of driving (ten with stopovers).<\/p>\n<p>Today we went to Branson, which is about 45 minutes south of Springfield.&nbsp; For those from Illinois, Branson is a <em>lot<\/em> like Wisconsin Dells.&nbsp; There is a main strip, and a lot of family activities.&nbsp; The main differences I noticed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More shows in Branson than in Dells.&nbsp; But I&#8217;ve noticed that more shows are opening up every year in the Dells.&nbsp; I think they (the owners in the Dells, like Tommy Bartlett&#8217;s family) are taking their cue from Branson<\/li>\n<li>More water parks in Dells than Branson.&nbsp; There are one or two, but not nearly as many as in the Dells.&nbsp; <\/li>\n<li>In a stunning development, Branson has better go carts and tracks than Dells.&nbsp; The Dells used to be famous for this, but now the only way to ride a go cart in Dells is to buy in to a huge theme park that happens to have them.&nbsp; Here, you can still go to *just* go cart tracks, and there are about five or six of them.&nbsp; <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aside from that, we&#8217;re loving the food and swimming a lot.&nbsp; Aaron has developed quite a taste for southern food, especially BBQ.&nbsp; He is really going to love it in Texas.&nbsp; Well, at least I <strong>hope<em> <\/em><\/strong>that Dallas has good BBQ.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time for bed.&nbsp; I&#8217;ll post more later, and maybe some pictures will come soon too. <\/p>\n<p>Oh, speaking of which, I owe you readers some pictures from the Special Olympics (last June) and the Bears game we recently went to (late July).&nbsp; As soon as we get back home :). &nbsp; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s about 11 PM on day two of our big summer vacation.&nbsp; Yesterday was just a drive day, we went about 530 miles from Chicago to Springfield MO in about 11 or 12 hours with plenty of stopovers.&nbsp; Now we&#8217;re watching the Olympics before we go to bed, ready to make the trek from here [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-294","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-travel"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/294","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=294"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/294\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=294"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=294"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/famille.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=294"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
